Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) spoke on the House floor Wednesday, calling for Congress to pass his HALT Fentanyl Act by February 18th. This bill, which Griffith is a lead sponsor of, aims to curb overdose deaths by permanently scheduling fentanyl analogs as schedule 1 substances.
Griffith included a haunting statistic in his remarks, which states between May 2020 and April 2021, more than one hundred thousand overdose deaths occurred in America– an increase of nearly 30 percent from the previous year.
