Mount Rogers Health District urges residents to seek COVID-19 testing at locations other than emergency rooms
The Mount Rogers Health District urges residents to seek COVID-19 testing at locations other than the emergency room. Officials say testing demand has increased around the region, and many people take to the ER to get tested. VDH population health manager, Breanne Hubbard, says, “It is critical that we reserve our hospital emergency rooms for medical emergencies, so if you need a COVID-19 test and it is not an emergency, please visit another testing site.” COVID testing is available at many pharmacies, local health departments, and urgent care sites. Officials say emergency rooms are not first come first served—they prioritize patients based on most severe needs. Testing sites in Virginia can be located at VDH.Virginia.gov.
