Two-hour standoff with Carter County car theft suspect ends

Two people were taken into custody following a two-hour standoff and a pursuit of a vehicle reported stolen out of Carter County, Tennessee.
Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton said Kenneth Dayton, 40, barricaded himself at a family member’s home and then surrendered to officers. Dayton is facing several charges including reckless endangerment.
The report said Sexton’s girlfriend Christina Shepstead, 39, was charged with false reporting.
