5.1 magnitude earthquake rocks NC, felt in areas of Northeast TN and Southwest VA
The Tri-Cities was shaken by an earthquake that hit early Sunday morning in North Carolina.
The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 5.1 earthquake happened around 8:07 a.m yesterday, around 2.5 miles Southeast of Sparta, NC. The quake was felt in several states, including here in Northeast TN and Southwest VA.
This was the largest earthquake in the state of NC since 1916 when a magnitude 5.2 was measured. – Electric 94.9 News Room
