Residents In Hawkins County Will Wear Masks, Beginning Friday

Hawkins County residents will be required to wear masks beginning Friday. In a Facebook post, Hawkins County Mayor Jim Lee says he didn’t take his decision to mandate masks lightly and he knows it is controversial. But Lee goes on to say the best way to have the economy open is for everyone to wear a mask. Governor Bill Lee’s order does allow for enforcement of the mandate, but Lee says local law enforcement doesn’t have the resources to enforce the order. Lee says he will not ask Hawkins County authorities to be burdened with chasing around citizens who don’t have a face mask. The Hawkins County Mayor says he expects local citizens will do what most have already been doing for the last few months and that’s wearing a mask. – Electric 94.9 News Room
