Emory & Henry College cancels fall, winter sports due to virus concerns
In a joint statement issued by Emory & Henry College and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Tuesday, fall and spring sport schedules are canceled for the remainder of the 2020 calendar year due to pandemic concerns.
The sports impacted by the decision included football, men’s and women’s basketball, golf, equestrian, and cross country among seven scholarship teams at the Washington County, Virginia school.
The college noted that a blanket waiver issued by the NCAA will provide unprecedented scheduling flexibility that would allow athletes enough time to prepare for their respective sport. The current plan is to have all fall sports moved to the spring. – Electric 94.9 News Room
