One Dead In Greene County After Officer Involved Shooting With Sullivan County Deputies
One person is dead and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is probing an officer involved shooting Sunday night in Greene County that involved 3 Sullivan County deputies. Sullivan County authorities spotted 29 year old Katelyn L. Harris, who was known to have outstanding warrants, traveling on John B. Dennis Bypass in Kingsport. Deputies with attempted a traffic stop, but Harris refused to pull over. Harris drove to Exit 44 and traveled into Greene County on Jeraldstown Road where she ran off the road. A passenger exited the vehicle when Sullivan County deputies noticed Harris had a gun. Officers ordered Harris to drop the weapon. She placed the vehicle in reverse and accelerated toward deputies. Three officers fired shots, striking Harris. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is being conducted by the TBI.
