UPDATE: Bristol official says steps to curb landfill odor not working, asks EPA for guidance
Bristol Virginia City Manager Randy Eads has formally asked federal environment regulators to help the locality with continuing odor problems at the city landfill.
In a letter to the EPA and copied to state and federal lawmakers in Virginia and Tennessee, Eads said the corrective actions of gas wells installation at the facility do not seem to be working as intended although those components will be operating at full capacity in a few weeks.
Eads says they want federal help before spending further taxpayer dollars to correct a problem he says creates a lower quality of life for the Bristol community.
