UPDATE: Victim identified in White Pine shooting near Interstate 81 travel plazas

Police have identified the victim in Monday’s shooting at a travel plaza located off of Interstate 81 that left two others injured.

Christopher Ray Welch, 48, died at a Knoxville hospital after he was shot during the domestic situation located between Pilot and Weigel’s in White Pine.

The two other victims were a 16-year-old girl and a 58-year-old man; they’re both listed in critical condition, according to Chief of Police Chad Cotter, who noted a fourth person was involved but was not arrested.
