Report says Hawkins County woman was stabbed while sleeping

The victim of a stabbing in Hawkins County, Tennessee told officers she was sleeping when the suspect plunged a weapon into her back.

Amy Newland, 36, is charged with aggravated assault, burglary, and theft, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

Newland was taken into custody while walking down the street by the deputy dispatched to the assault call in Church Hill.
