Former Hamblen County school secretary indicted for theft, forgery
A former Hamblen County school secretary has been indicted by a grand jury following a Comptroller’s Office investigation.
A report from the agency said Karen Whittaker is accused of mishandling more than $1,000 of money collected at Whitesburg Elementary School and using that cash to pay personal debt.
Whittaker is charged with theft, identity theft, and forgery. She was terminated from her job in September.
