Carter County Sheriff’s office arrest corrections office for contraband

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Carter County corrections officer after he allegedly brought illegal narcotics into the Carter County Detention Center. The Sheriff’s Office said that Leonard Stratton II, 32, of Elizabethton, was arrested and terminated from his employment with the CCSO after an internal investigation. On June 9, Stratton allegedly attempted to smuggle illegal narcotics and tobacco products into the detention center to distribute to inmates. Stratton was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility and official misconduct. The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending.
