FDA Expands Toxic Hand Sanitizer Recall List
Once again the FDA is warning consumers that the agency has seen a dramatic increase in hand sanitizers that are labeled to contain ethanol (also known as ethyl alcohol) but that have tested positive for methanol contamination.
Methanol, or wood alcohol, is a dangerous substance that can be toxic when absorbed through the skin and can be life-threatening when ingested.
Unlike previous recalls, some of these products have been sold at larger chains and big box stores. Check your bottles against the updated list from the FDA which can be found here. https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-updates-hand-sanitizers-methanol#products – Jinger Royal
