“Glee” Actress Naya Rivera Died Saving Her Son’s Life
Naya Rivera’s body was discovered Monday morning at Lake Piru. The former “Glee” star went missing five days ago while boating with her four-year-old son. The boy was found unharmed in their rented boat, but Maya had disappeared.
Now we know that Naya’s final moments were spent saving her 4 year old son’s life. According to Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub “We know from speaking with her son, that he and Naya swam in the lake together. Her son described being helped into the boat by Naya. The idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting. It was unanchored. She mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.”
Ayub said the sheriff’s department has been “in direct contact” with Rivera’s family. Fans, fellow cast members and friends have been sharing their love and grief at the loss. Jane Lynch, who played Coach Sue Sylvester on the show “Glee” tweeted, “Rest sweet, Naya, What a force you were. Love and peace to your family.” – Jinger Royal
