NEW: Bristol Virginia City Manager urges parents to find ‘safe alternatives’ on Halloween
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has frowned upon traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating for Halloween due to the virus pandemic.
In lieu of those precautions, Bristol Virginia City Manager Randy Eads announced Tuesday afternoon a message to parents as well as neighborhoods and community organizations to identify safer alternatives for the event on Oct. 31.
The CDC has given the low or moderate risk level to events like giving treats in small crowds or just with neighbors or family, scavenger hunts, and one-way trick-or-treating events that eliminate direct contact and encourage social distancing.
Eads noted that Bristol Virginia Public Schools will also look for safe accommodations that can be made during the school day on Halloween. – Electric 94.9 News Room
