Northeast State reports first COVID-19 case found in student

A student at Northeast State Community College has tested positive for COVID-19.

The school announced Saturday that the student was alerted to the positive virus case during a routine COVID-19 screening on Friday. Officials say the student is at home in quarantine.

NESCC says anyone who has had direct contact with the student has been contacted by phone or email by the school to stay in quarantine for 14 days.

The student who tested positive attended classes at the Regional Center for Health Professionals in Kingsport on July 6th, 8th, and 10th. The building has been closed and is currently being disinfected, with an anticipated reopening on Monday.

Students in that class will receive an email from the instructor with instruction and schedule details. – Electric 94.9 News Room
