One-time Intake of Over 30 Pekingese Pups Temporarily Closes Greene County Shelter
A one-time intake of dogs has forced the Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society to temporarily close their offices.
According to a social media post from the group, their facility was notified by county law enforcement over the weekend that a known Pekingese breeder had passed away and the more than 30 dogs left behind would need to be sheltered.
The post said the family had agreed for the animals to be turned over to the society for adoption and that the dogs vary in age.
The humane society’s operations will remain closed until August 11 to allow staff to assess and prep the dogs for a new home. The group also noted that they will need additional donations to help with this special operation.
