Police say Appalachia resident murdered then placed in burning vehicle in Kentucky

Wise County police and the Kentucky State Police are both involved in a homicide investigation that ended with the victim’s body being recovered from a burning vehicle at Lynch Mountain.

Sheriff Grant Kilgore says a murder warrant has been secured for 29-year-old David Stoneburner who is accused of killing his aunt 44-year-old Sandra Moore of Appalachia then transporting her body into Kentucky.

Stoneburner was arrested in Harlan County and is awaiting extradition back to Virginia.
