Wastewater treatment plant maintenance in Kingsport could produce odor

If you notice an off putting odor in the downtown area of Kingsport soon, its the wastewater treatment plant conducting maintenance. Through mid-January, Domtar will be dredging on Riverport Road. The dredging is to remove solids in the settling zone of the wastewater treatment lagoon. Minimal impacts to the surrounding community are expected during the project, anticipated to last through mid-January. An enhanced odor mitigation system is being used for the project, but Domtar said, an odor may occasionally occur.
